That’s right - I do shrooms...

As if anyone would believe that, I’m not even sure “do” is the correct verb for shroom consumption.

Now that I’ve adequately established how uncool I am, what I’m really getting at is that I’ve started taking a superfoods supplement which includes an interesting “Supershroom“ blend. check out my thoughts below

The Product Summary

  • 📋 Product: Glaxon SuperGreens

  • 🥛 Type: Greems & Health

  • 👄 Flavour: Lemon Iced Tea

  • 💰 Price: £31.98

  • ⚖️ Weight: 300g

  • 🥄 Servings: 21 / 42 servings

The TLDR

Surprisingly tasty greens supplement (that’s also obviously healthy AF). If you can look past the colour, then you may even believe you’re actually drinking iced tea. Made it super easy for me to consume more veg, and would reccommend without hesitation.

The Reasons to Take This

It’s powderised fruit and veg - do I really need to tell you why you need vegetables?…

Ok well, if you insist, here are some of the benefits of Glaxon Super Greens:

  • Fight Free Radicals

  • Decrease Inflammation

  • Increase Muscular Performance

  • Improve Blood Flow

  • Elevate Endurance

  • Enhance Cognition

  • Boost Immunity

  • Support Blood Alkalinity

If you’re still not convinced, then you should know that vegetables contain many vital vitamins and minerals which are critical for proper and efficient muscle contractions, red blood cell production. Basically, if you skip the veg, you'll damage your recovery rate, and ultimately reduce the rate of gains. Now that you’re interested, let’s talk about what you’re actually getting.

The Formula

As with most greens products, this is loaded with a lot of vegetables, berries, and other goodies. Interestingly, Glaxon has included a mushroom blend as well, containing seven different mushroom strains that are organically grown, and designed to support a healthy immune system, aid in performance, and support enhanced cognition. As greens as designed to supplement a lack of vegetables, I think having mushrooms makes a lot of sense, as most of us probably don’t eat a wide variety of these.

Another interesting addition is Acacia fibre, which is sourced from the sap of the Acacia Senegal tree. This is a highly soluble fibre, which attracts water and turns to gel during digestion. This slows digestion, and helps your body improve blood glucose control. Some types of soluble fibre may also help lower risk of heart disease.

The other noteworthy ingredient that I really appreciate is sunflower lecithin. You may recognise this from the label of of your protein powder, where Lecithin (soy or sunflower) is added to improve mixability. Greens products are notoriously (and understandably) difficult to mix, and the addition of lecithin here does appear to have helped in that regard (more on this point below)

Full blend below, the amounts shown is for half a scoop (the label serving size), but I tend to take full scoops, as that is more comparable in dosage to other greens products.

Here are the benefits straight from Glaxon - straight from the horse’s mouth

Here are the benefits straight from Glaxon - straight from the horse’s mouth

1) Acacia (Acacia senegal) fiber (2.5g)

This is a a highly soluble fiber, which can help lower cholesterol levels, keep blood sugar in check, protect against diabetes, and aid in the treatment of digestive disorders. This can also suppress appetite, reduce gut inflammation, alleviate constipation, relieve diarrhoea, and support weight loss efforts (by helping you stay full for longer).

Acacia fiber is also said to be prebiotic (a non-digestible food ingredient in dietary fiber that can stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestines).

2) Green Balance Alkalyzing Blend (1g)

Alfalfa Grass (Medicago sativa) Powder, Whatgrass (triticum aestivum) powder, Barley grass (hordeum vulgare) Powder, Lemon (citrus limon) juice powder, Kale (brassica oleracea acephala) powder, Astragalus (Astragalus propinquus) powder, Spirulina (Arthospira platensis) powder, Oat Grass (Avena sativa L.) powder, Chlorella (chlorella vulgaris) powder

The Mixability

As I’ve written before, greens products will never mix as well as other powders, simply because of a number of non-water soluble ingredients.

Having said that, Glaxon’s greens product mixed surprisingly well. Again, you’ll still taste some graininess, but nowhere near as much as some other products. The powder turns light mossy green when mixed in water, and looks a bit like pond.water? Check out the bird’s eye view of my cup of tea below - some specs of powder floating around, but generally quite clear.

Pretty clear for a greens supplement!

Overall, the mixability is much better than I would have expected. .

The Taste

This is where I think Glaxon Super Greens really shines. Judging this on taste alone, I’d say it’s easily an 8 / 10, and almost tastes like a sugary iced tea drink you’d expect to buy from the supermarkets. The texture is generally pleasing, and you could quite easily fool yourself into thinking you’re drinking iced tea if you can ignore the colour. I reccomend using a solid coloured shaker cup.

Only minor complaint I have is that you do get a whiff of vegetables when you drink this. This really isn’t a big deal, and is much easier to stomach than shovelling down a kilo of sprouts….

If you want a second opinion (I’m not mad, just dissapointed), I even offered some of this to my sister. For context, she isn’t into supplements, and therefore doesn’t understand that supplements usually don’t taste exactly like the flavoure they’re trying to emulate. I can’t really blame her for disliking supplements TBH - I’ve probably tricked her into trying gross protein powders one too many time… . Anyway, the point of this anecdote is that she agreed that this tastes good. After trying a few different greens I had lying around, she’s actually started using this to restore some semblance of health to her diet after the festive period…

Basically what I’m saying is, it tastes great, and I can’t believe it’s not sugar.

The Flavour Longevity & Versatility

Longevity wise, this is great, I can easily sip on this all day. All I’m really looking for in a greens supplement is for it to taste better than broccoli, and this one blew-past that expectation.

I think Glaxon have done a really good job with the flavouring and mixability. So, I’ve not tried to mix this with anything other than water, and I don’t really think you need anything else to make this taste good.

The Pricing

At the time of writing, predator nutrition are selling this for £32 in the UK. This is for 42 half scoop servings, or 21 full sized servings. I think the full scoop is more comparable to other greens products, which makes this slightly more expensive than some other products out there. However, my honest opinion is that it is 100% worth the price, and is still decent value. It would be so much more expensive to try and get all the different fruit / veg included in this via real foods, and again this is probably the healthiest thing you’ll have in your house

If you’re a gym / supplement store / professional trainer etc., then you can get this from Protein Bargain at wholesale prices. They are one of the best wholesalers I’ve worked with, and offers a very personal service. Ask for Kayne - and tell him I sent you 😎 (for which I will receive only street cred. not actual payment) *

*Just as a reminder, Inside the scoop does not receive comissions or sell products, this is a review site for informational (and entertainment?) purposes only

The Verdict

In case it wasn’t clear from the review, I absolutely loved this. The whole point of having a greens and superfood supplement is to balance your diet in an easy and convenient way, and Glaxon’s Super Greens is perfect for this. On top of that, the formula is great, and contains a whole bunch of goodies you’re probably not getting from your diet.

As always, it can be hard to judge the effects of a greens supplement, but this one definitely helped with digestion (probably due to the high fibre content). It’s also good to know that I’m getting a good dose of anti-oxidants, etc. in every scoop.

I’d have expected something this healthy to taste like death, but fortunately this was a delicious and refreshing beverage (albeit strangely coloured) that is very easy to drink.

Thanks Glaxon, I now have no credible excuse for why I’m not getting enough veg…
