Sleep Is Important

Here’s something you might not know - I regularly work from 9am until the wee hours past midnight, or about 80 - 100 hours per week (no for real…I wish this was just clickbait😔). But this isn’t about me, this is about how sleep affects all of us.

We all know that sleep is important, but do you know HOW important? I work in finance, and I’m Asian…so I’m gonna put some numbers to it. 🤓

To test the importance of sleep, the American College of Physicians put overweight adults into a caloric deficit, and measured the change in body composition between a group that slept 8.5 hours per night, and another that only slept 5.5 hours. Surprisingly, both groups lost the same amount of weight.

BUT! Those on more sleep lost more lost 55% more fat, and preserved 60% more muscle! 💪

If you’re interested, you should read the book “Why We Sleep“ by Matthew Walker. My friend reccomended it to me, and ironically I’ve been losing sleep over my own lifestyle ever since…

Side note, please can somebody send this post to my boss??
